What is an umbrella school?
An “umbrella school” is a term for non-campus based private schools like Ascend STEM Academy. These schools support homeschooling families and are sometimes called “cover schools” because they provide legal coverage for homeschooling.
How much does enrollment cost?
First-time enrollment is $185 a year for grades K–8 and $200 a year for grades 9–12. Re-enrollment is $165 for K–8 and $175 for 9–12. Every additional child enrolled in the same checkout is just $100 for the year, and every enrolled student gets one free report card each year. See what’s included.
When can we enroll?
Any time. Enrollment is open year-round for grades K–12. Create your family account to get started.
Do we have to use a specific curriculum?
No. Each student is led by their home educator, usually a parent, who is free to choose the curriculum and change it when needed.
Will my child need standardized testing?
We do not require our students to take any form of standardized testing.
How do I get a transcript or proof of enrollment?
An official transcript is $25, and an enrollment verification letter is free for enrolled families. See records on request.
